PLCY 201 Position Paper: Policing in America

With the May 2020 murder of George Floyd at the hands of three police officers, policing and police brutality have become hot subjects in America. The Black Lives Matter movement has become an important cultural call to action to bring reform to policing practices in America, which is why Public Leadership students voted to write our second policy paper on this topic. This was an important paper for me to write because I did extensive research into police reform and gained a lot of personal insight into the failures of America's current system. I put a great deal of effort into writing this paper because of the importance and relevance of the topic, and I think it showcases my writing abilities as a result.
